Curried Rice

A spicy side dish balanced with sweet, golden raisins and topped with toasted almonds…


  • For:
  • 6 servings
  • 4 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, small dice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small jalapeno, seeded & minced
  • 1 tsp Urban Accents Kashmir Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-3/4 cups Basmati rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup toasted slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • Preparation: 20 min
  • Cooking: 45 min
  • Ready in: 1 h 5 min


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Heat oil in medium ovenproof saucepan over medium-high heat; add onions and saute until translucent.
  3. Add garlic, jalapeno, Kashmir Garam Masala, ginger, and salt. Cook for 1 min, stirring constantly.
  4. Add rice and cook over low heat for 2 min, stirring constantly.
  5. Add broth and simmer uncovered, for 6-8 min.
  6. Cover saucepan and bake for 20-30 min, or until liquid is absorbed.
  7. Remove from oven and let stand 15 min, covered, before serving. When ready to serve, sprinkle with almonds and raisins and enjoy!
