YOU WILL NEED…
- 2 lbs lean beef – chuck or round steak (cubed or ground)
- 2 slices bacon, cut crosswise into 1/4-inch pieces
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 2-1/2 cups water
In a dutch oven over high heat cook meat until browned. Drain and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium and add bacon. Cook until just beginning to brown, about 4 minutes. Add onion and saute until translucent. Add meat, seasoning packet and tomato paste, stirring until well combined. Add in tomatoes and water. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
Makes 8 1-cup servings.
