Inspiration Corporation provides people who are affected by homelessness and poverty with essential social services that create choices. In partnership with donors and volunteers, they provide supportive services and meals, employment and training services, free voice mail, and housing to more than 3000 people each year.
The Inspiration Café is a therapeutic community located in Uptown and gives participants the opportunity to attend meals prepared and served by volunteers in a restaurant-style setting. This facility also provides individualized counseling and support in identifying, monitoring, and achieving personal goals, which include obtaining stable housing and an income source. They also offer service programs that focus on housing, educational opportunities, employment services, and healthcare. Many of the same services are also available at Inspiration Corp’s South Side location called The Living Room Café which was founded by an Inspiration Café volunteer in 1995.Â
Each facility has a number of volunteer opportunities that range from cooking and serving in the cafes to teaching yoga. You can find a list of opportunities on their website http://www.inspirationcorp.org/index.html to volunteer your time and offer other means of support.Â
